Liebster Award

So I've won this award before I believe, although I'm still honored to have it, so thank you Jenna! Check out Jenna's cute blog over here:

I'm feeling a little down lately so I won't go much into this, basically I'll answer the questions then I have to go lie down or something... meh.

11 questions for the nominees;
1. Do you have any pets?

  • I have two cats, a boy named Lincecum and a girl named Posey, and yes they are named after Giants players. There have been pictures of them on here! Also since living with my boyfriend, I guess you could count our two roommates as pets... they leave enough mess... -_-
2. What is your favorite beauty product?

  • I don't really have a favorite but I guess the one that I will use no matter what is my Bare Minerals Eyelid Primer. I know most people love the Urban Decay one but I've never tried it, plus I worked for Bare Escentuals for 5 years and got a really good discount so why wouldn't I use their products?
3. Favorite food?

  • I absolutely love Japanese and Italian food. I'll eat pasta or sushi or pizza any day of the week. I also love potatoes in any kind of form
4. The one product you can't live without?

  • I guess this is the same as no. 2? Well I also wouldn't be able to live without mascara, and right now the one I love is Maybelline's Falsies or whatever it's called.
5. What do you like most about blogging?

  • Getting to show off! Lol that probably has something to do with it, I am a Libra after all and we are known to be a bit vain... but seriously I love seeing what other people are talking about and becoming inspired to do my own thing. It's also a great way to make friends, and again, being a Libra, I'm very social and love making new friends!
6. Favorite holiday?

  • HALLOWEEN!!!! Gah without a doubt, best holiday ever. I also feel like it's the only one that hasn't strayed too far from what it was originally all about, unlike Christmas or Thanksgiving. Getting to dress up in crazy costumes and apply awesome makeup?! LOVE.
7. Interesting fact about yourself?

  • I used to Irish dance. Yeah, if you're asking, it's basically like Riverdance. I still have the hard shoes and my soft shoes called "gillies" and I really want to go back to it!!! I miss it :( I also used to compete in what's called a "feis" and I won lots of medals and trophies! Lol
8. Favorite makeup brand?

  • Haha I would be lying if I didn't say Bare Minerals first. It's true I used to work there so maybe I still feel obligated to say so, but I really love everything they do, from makeup to skincare to brushes. I also love MAC of course, and Urban Decay and NARS and Bobbi Brown.
9. Best vacation spot?

  • I loved Cabo San Lucas when I was there and I definitely want to go back! I also love camping so wherever that may take me...
10. Who do you inspire to be?

  • Well I always try to be myself. People who I look up to are Dita Von Teese and RuPaul, among others, but those two were the first to pop into my head when I read the question.
11. Best TV show?

  • Ahhhh too many! Right now I just got into Once Upon A Time which is really cool even though I'm not a huge fan of whatshername... the chick who played Cameron on House. I also love to watch Hey, Arnold which is completely geeky but I love Helga Pataki so much! Some more: RuPaul's Drag Race, Warehouse 13, X-Files, Project Runway, Supernatural, Bones, Face Off, Ghost Hunters, Mythbusters... I also watch A LOT of let's plays on Youtube, which is basically someone playing a video game and recording it with their reactions and I love it! My favorite is Markiplier :) Check him out on Youtube.
I think that's it! I would nominate people but I don't think there's anyone new on my blog roll plus I have done this before but I love answering the questions! Like I said I've been feeling a bit down so I'm going to go lie down and hopefully feel better. Hope your Friday is going better than mine! Thanks Jenna again, and thanks guys!

NARS Scarlet Empress

Hello again, this is gonna be a short one. It's just two shots of me wearing NARS lipstick in Scarlet Empress. This was back when I was still working for so we got to play with lots of makeup in the office. I really enjoyed that job (and the pay lol) but not so much commuting on BART or waking up at 4:30 am to be at work at 6 am. Plus having to deal with bitchy people over the phone... not so easy. Anyway, I tried this color on and took pictures when I got home. It looks a little brighter and more red in the pictures because of the flash, but it's slightly darker IRL. I don't know what's on my eyes, something that I put on at work, probably a Too Faced palette of some sort. So yeah, I like this color! I'll have to buy it. The Sephora website describes this color as a semi-matte blue red which is incredibly accurate. The lipstick is not completely matte so it still makes your lips look moist, but obviously it's not overly shiny. Blue-red is dead on, there's no warmth in this color at all, no orange tones! Love it!

Obviously I also posted this because I still had orange hair in these pictures! Yay Giants!! GOOO beat the Cards! It's starting! Hopefully there's not another earthquake... if you're not aware, today marks the 23rd anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake. I was 3 at the time so I don't remember too much, although I do remember hiding under a table at my pre-school and being really scared. This day was also the day the Giants and A's were about to play Game 3 of the World Series aka Battle of the Bay. Lots of history in this day, lol. Anyone else out there from the Bay Area and old enough to remember this day in 1989?

Thanks guys!

Disney Villains Varnish Collection

Cheerio lads! Here we have the Disney Villains Collection swatches! I teased you with the box because I loved the drawings so much but since someone actually asked to see the swatches, I got my ass on it and swatched them all for your viewing pleasure! I also did a comparison so check it out:

Cruella De Vil is a beautiful sexy siren red creme. Shown here are two coats with a perfect formula. I'm not kidding, it was sooooo good. I know this color is boring to most nail polish lovers, but I love a good red creme. It's such a timeless color and adds instant sex appeal and confidence. First picture under artificial light, second with flash. Love this color.

Evil Queen really needs a name. Rebecca... after Rebecca de Winter from the Daphne du Maurier novel of the same name. Great novel, equally great movie directed by Hitchcock starring Laurence Olivier (swooon) and then unknown Joan Fontaine. I won't waste your time explaining the plot, just know Rebecca is a perfect name for this villain. Now that I've geeked out, here's the color. It's a beautiful black base with what looks like at first hot pink shimmer. But I felt like in different lights the color shifted from hot pink to red, which is why I included an extra picture to hopefully capture the color shift. Shown is two coats with the formula being slightly thick but not unmanageable. First picture under artificial light, second and third with flash.

Maleficent is a fantastic blackened teal/green/blue. It's mostly green than blue with blackened edges. My camera could not pick up the color correctly so I had to use my camera on my phone instead. Shown is 3 coats with a slightly runny formula but again, not hard to work with at all, I just did thinner coats. Also here is where I have the comparison.

Shown here is a comparison between L'Oreal's new shade called The Muse's Attitude (on pointer and ring finger) and Disney's Maleficent (on middle and pinky finger). They look identical in their bottles but on the nail, L'Oreal is more noticeably green while Disney looks more blue. Both in real life however are pretty green with L'Oreal edging the other out by a hair.

Here's the comparison shown with camera flash. Again you can see the L'Oreal is ever slightly more green while the Disney looks more blue. Obviously if you were not a nail polish fanatic you could live with one and be happy about it. I'll keep both however since they're beautiful colors.

Mother Gothel is a vampy brown blood red. It looks red on the first coat but as you apply more coats to get coverage, it starts to look more brown. I don't know how I feel about this color. I was loving it on the first coat because I love vampy blood reds. But the fact that it looks almost brown in some lighting and almost black in low lighting kinda turns me off. Either way, it's super shiny and easy to apply. I did 3 thin coats and you can still see a bit of my nail which doesn't really bother me because it's hardly noticeable unless you were nitpicking. I just didn't want to do another coat because I was afraid it would make the color much darker. First picture under artificial light, second with flash.

Queen of Hearts is a dirty, antique gold with a slight twinge of green. The first picture actually shows off a lot of that green when in reality, the color is not that green at all. I suppose I probably should have fixed that but I think the second picture shows the true color better, even though the color is slightly darker and more "dirty" if that makes sense. Also there are tiny specks of glitter which don't sink and gives the polish depth and shine. It's not difficult to remove like regular glitter. Shown here is 3 coats with a good formula. First picture under artificial light, second with flash.

Last and least, the abomination of this collection. Ugh. Ursula is an awful light purple/lavender streaky frost crapfest. It has the same smattering of glitter as Queen of Hearts but this glitter does sink as you can see on my pointer and pinky fingers and makes the polish look gritty. Not sure if top coat would remedy that problem, I kind of put the polish on, gagged and immediately removed it. Not that it would matter because the base color is still dreadful. Well actually the base color, the pretty soft lavender color is nice. What ruins it is the god awful frost. If Disney had made this color a dark purple like the color of her skirt in the drawing, it would have been better. This is just grotesque. The formula on this one was also the worst. Not really that terrible but still kinda goopy. Shown is 3 coats. First picture under artificial light, second with flash.

Well there you have it! I'm really thankful that my roommate got this for me for my birthday because I do love it. I'm super inspired by the drawings to take up my villains makeup from last year. Also if you didn't know Disney is doing these ridiculously amazing and glamorous Villains Designer Dolls. Omfg I can't even stand how glamorous and beautiful these renderings are. If I had money to burn I'd totally pick up Maleficent... she's like a sexy S&M vixen with that corset. I also love the Queen of Hearts. I want her dress. Actually I want all their dresses. Lol. Cruella's doll is definitely the height of glam and fashion. And guess what! This varnish collection is on sale right now! It's only 25% off, but it's better than nothing I guess.

Okay now I have to go watch the Giants play Game 3 of the NLCS!! Be back in a sec though. :)

Random Thoughts

Hey again everybody, I felt like I had a bunch of random stuff to share so here it is lol.

First off I have some pics of two small hauls. The first one was for my birthday. My roommate works at the Disney Store so he got me the Villains nail collection for my birthday (and a plushie Maleficent yay).

Yes, these are pictures of the box because I'm a nerd and I love the drawings :3

I hope to have swatches soon!

Now these lovelies were from the day after my birthday. My bf and I went out to dinner at our favorite burger joint and we were watching the Giants play Game 1 of the NLDS series when they lost at home to the Reds. I was upset to say the least that they were losing, so the bf actually proposed we go to CVS so I could look at nail polish because he knew it would make me feel better. Isn't he sweet?! So this is what I picked up:
Left to right: L'Oreal The Temptress' Power and The Muse's Attitude; Revlon Wicked Star and Haunted Heart.

The L'Oreal ones were sitting there waiting for me at the L'Oreal Project Runway setup. Immediately after getting home I noticed Muse's Attitude and Maleficent from the Villains collection were miiiiighty similar... I'll have to compare them. Now I love Project Runway but I have no idea who is in the final. I always get into it in the beginning and then I start to get annoyed with all the drama and stop watching. Oops. The Revlons were also part of a new Halloween setup. I had to have that green and as for the orange... I didn't really need it since I have sooooo many oranges and this one is probably exactly like three other ones I can think of but it's Halloween themed and it's October and the Giants are in the playoffs so why not.

Another kind of haul here. My boyfriend was getting tired of seeing all my nail polish scattered in the living room, so I nonchalantly mentioned the Helmer from IKEA to him. So we went to IKEA and I was just going to get one since that's all I had money for, but he sweetly paid for a second one for me :)

YUUUP I got the red ones. They're awesome. Sorry I don't have pics of the inside, they're still a work in progress. I'm swatching all my colors onto nail wheels and it's taking a while so the Helmers are under construction for now. But as you can see I do have labels up! I'll get you pics of the inside soon.

These next two pictures show off how crafty I am! I practically making my Halloween costume because I hate the idea of spending like $70 on a store bought one that's just going to fall apart because it's cheaply made. So I try to make as much of my costume as usual. Actually, here's a picture of my costume from last Halloween:

That's my boyfriend on the left. He's dreamy. Can you guess what we're supposed to be?! The funny thing about our costumes was this was went we first started dating and I was planning on being Poison Ivy before he told me he was going as the Joker (he's like a mix between Heath Ledger's and Jack Nicholson's Jokers) so it was kind of like we mentally planned it that way cuz we're meant to be awww. Man I sure do love my hair and makeup. I sewed the ivy leaves onto my dress that way, and actually I did my bf's makeup that night too! Pretty sweet right?

Anyway, here's what I'm working on for this Halloween:

Again, I'm not entirely certain why blogger wants to rotate these on their sides. But anywhos, it's my staff! Can you guess who it belongs to?! It's actually all finished now and ready to go, I just don't have a picture of it, but really, you don't need one. Just imagine the second picture with the top ball part painted gold to match the bottom and you're good.

Lastly in my barrage of randomness is some awesome nail news from the sports world. I have grown to kind of forget about Brian Wilson from the Giants just because he's been injured all year and had to have Tommy John surgery and frankly I prefer Sergio Romo's closing abilities to Wilson's theatrics. Plus I'm really over the beard... it's looking a little... creepy. But I still enjoy some of Brian Wilson's crazy antics, this included:

Okay, this is why he is awesome. He takes team spirit and pride seriously. Admittedly his hair looks awful and as I said the beard is looking really creeptastic, but I love him for his nails. AWESOME. Here's an article going more in depth with the manicure. Please click the link that describes Wilson riding a scooter... it's too hilarious. All right, all right, you won me back a little bit Brian Wilson... but I still love Romo...

Okay well thanks for reading all this hoopla if you did! Stick around friends!

EOTD 7/19/12

Yay more old posts! Argh, I have a mosquito bite on my side and it itches like crazy!! Stupid mosquitos... and stupid me! I don't think I wrote down what I used for this look, although you can be sure it was probably my Coastal Scents Color palette! I just don't know which colors, although I could probably figure it out if I go look at the palette and compare it to the picture, but I'm lazy and I doubt anyone will ask. So here's just the pictures!

I really liked this look. I'll try to recreate it and actually write down what I used because I love colorful looks like these.

Bonus shot! Obviously I was inspired by my Hello Catamari t-shirt with this look, plus I was goofing off and tried on my  bf's fedora hehe. I think it looks pretty good on me! But he has a ginormous head so it would never fit. And boo I already miss my orange hair :(

So perhaps that is it for today. I might post again but we'll see. I've become overcome with the desire and inspiration to do some crazy glam looks and I already have some ideas in mind so maybe I'll get working on that today. So stick around!

Glitter Daze Parfait Amour

Hello hello, I'm probably not going to talk much since my head is killing me. It probably has to do with the fact that I haven't eaten anything yet today, oops. I'll get right on that after I'm done here. Probably gonna post this lovely mani and maybe an eye look too. Also I just checked out facebook and OPI posted a picture of their Spring/Summer line already. DANG that was fast! But dudes seriously, while the colors don't really look like anything mind-blowing, Ima definitely have to get some solely based on the name... they're real knee-slappers and I love that about OPI (while also hating it because it's so goddamn cheesy it makes me want to puke... but then again, it's cheesy and that's the point!) Anyway, I'm getting away from myself. I said I wouldn't talk too much but of course here I am rambling...

So here is Glitter Daze Parfait Amour. Glitter Daze is also a nice indie polish line. I can't quite remember if I layered this or not... I'm pretty sure I did but I cannot for the life of me remember what I layered this over. I guess I'll figure it out eventually, sorry bout that. At least it still looks gorgeous! Parfait Amour has a milky lavender base with tiny silver and pink glitters and slightly larger silver hex glitters. I think I only got one of those on my middle finger nail. These pictures are under artificial light.

Macro bottle shot:

I loved this polish. Not as much as some of my other indie purchased but still quite a lot. It looks very delicate and feminine. It reminds me of flowers or candies. Maybe like salt water taffy. That's exactly it, this reminds me of salt water taffy, which is weird because I don't even like taffy. I like the idea of taffy but hate it getting stuck in my teeth. Yuck. Anyways, rambling again.

Thanks for visiting guys!
