Halloween Inspiration: Disney Villains: Frollo

Hey guys, time for another villain! But first, an update. I am thinking of stretching my ears. Actually, I've been thinking of doing it for a really long time, like since high school but I never got around to doing it. I think I'm more receptive and determined to do it now because 1) I've just had a big change in my life and I need something new and 2) it's the next best thing after piercings (I don't really want anymore) and tattoos (I really want more but I have no money for them). Plus I think with my sassy new hairstyle (you'll see that in this post) it really suits my style and personality. Now I'm not talking HUGE holes in my ears, just small, probably like a 12 or a 10, maybe even an 8. I want to be able to still wear regular earrings if I choose. One of the reasons why I'm drawn to stretching is because of the beautiful and intricately carved earrings you can get. Look them up to see how pretty! I love the bone ones, they're calling to me! So yeah, that was my ramble. I'm hoping to start soon... will keep you posted and if anyone has any advice on the subject, I'm all ears! (HAHA punny...)

Now here is Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Originally in the novel by Victor Hugo, Frollo is an archdeacon (in Disney he's a judge) and portrayed as an anti-hero, not an actual villain like in the Disney film. However, things get a little more than PG-13 in the novel, so I can see why they would just make him straight evil for Disney. Anyway! Frollo's song always scared me and made me feel a little uncomfortable. He's like crazy religious but he's also super lusting after Esmeralda which is awkward for a kid, methinks. Plus he's talking about making her burn? Ack, that song is just so weird and awkward.

Here be inspiration pics:

As you might have guessed, it's black and purple and red time again!!!!! Sigh. Here's my take.

Not pictured: BE Big & Bright Eyeliner in Charcoal (brows) and Black Iris (bottom liner).

I really wanted something dark and smoky!!

Lid: Berry Flambe. Outer lid/crease: Typographic, then Black Tied to darken, then Top Hat to add color. Highlight: Grand Entrance. Bottom liner: Black Iris with Top Hat smudged on top.

For fun.

Before the fun part. Cheeks: BE Miracle. Lips: BE Pretty Amazing in Strength with BE Vanessa Buxom on top. You can't really tell Vanessa is on top, boo. It looked better IRL.

Oh hai new hair!!! I loovveees it. :)

What say you, lovely gang members? Also, seriously if anyone has advice on stretching, lemme know!

A-Z Untrieds: H: Here Comes Trouble by Orly

Hey gang! I have something to complain about really quick, hope you don't mind! Okay so I just finished reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (I know, super late, right?) because I love a good fantasy series just as much as the next guy (sup Harry Potter?). I was super excited to watch the movie to see what actors are in it and how they decided to interpret the movie. I noticed Chris Columbus directed it and I'm thinking I'm in for a treat cuz he directed the first two Harry Potter movies and they're pretty good even though we all know the book is always better than the movie. Well I should have known that this would be the case times a million with the Percy Jackson movie. It wasn't that it was awful; I'm sure if I had never read the book, the movie would appear fine. But because I just read it and everything was fresh in my mind, I was pissed when I finished the movie. I know sometimes you have to cut stuff out of the movie that's in the book because of time or whatever, but the movie is NOTHING like the book. Seriously. The plot is vaguely similar but I stress vaguely. Major plot happenings and characters are missing from the movie, and the plot is twisted around completely. I can't even believe the creators of this movie and Rick Riordan (the writer of the books) agreed to release this crap. It makes me wonder if anyone associated with the making of this film even read the freakin book. I guess the main reason they changed it so much was to take advantage of all the CGI effects they could fit in and appeal to a wider audience to make more money. Despicable. I'm really pissed off about this. Sorry to spew it all on here, I know some people don't like that, but that's why I made a blog. Yes to show off pretty nails and makeup but also to incite some conversation and thoughts about other stuff in my life. So there you go.

Now on to the real post which will showcase our H from the A-Z! This one's a doozy! It's Here Comes Trouble by Orly, a flippin gorgeous green glitter! Now it can become opaque on it's own and I started painting just on my bare nail, but I didn't like how my flesh color seemed to make the green look, well, fungus-y is the best way I can think of describing it. So I layered it on top of Forever 21 Love & Beauty Lime, an eye-searing neon green cream. Check it!

Sorry for the crappy application and cleanup, it was getting covered anyway!

There you have it, a nice lengthy post! I'm gonna go watch Harry Potter now. :D

A-Z Untrieds: G: Gelt Me To The Party by Barielle

Hey guys! Just a quick post before I hit the hay, yes I'm attempting to go to sleep early, we'll see how that goes. Normally if I try to go to bed early I just stay up late anyway or I do manage to fall asleep but then I wake up at 3 am and stay wide awake for a couple of hours. So here's hoping! Also, there's a terrible wild animal/alien living in a tree outside my window and it keeps making awful, loud screeching sounds. I keep picturing some sort of lizard/bird/possum hybrid because I have no idea what it is and I've never heard anything make this sound before. Sometimes I imagine the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz and sometimes I imagine raptors from Jurassic Park and sometimes I imagine the flying things from Avatar. Like I said, I have no idea what this thing is out there.

Anyway! Here we are at G for the A-Z! Today it's Gelt Me To The Party by Barielle. Ooh let me tell you I thought nothing but bad thoughts when I was applying this bad boy. It was streaky and brushstroke-y and it was looking all bad. But once it dried it looked smooth and evened out. I was SO ready to chuck this in the GIVE AWAY pile but somehow it won me over. I think it's because it's a really nice color and if it's gonna even out like that when it dries then I don't mind. It's a very rich, antique gold that could look green in some lights but very faintly. This is the color I was wearing when I fell and some of the polish chipped off. D'oh. Gelt Me kind of reminds me of how MAC's Immortal Gold looks in the bottle, but seeing as I haven't actually tried Immortal Gold yet I can't be sure of how close they are, although Immortal Gold looks like it has more of that green pull. Anyway, here it is! Also before I took it off I played around with OPI Red and Turquoise Shatter. See which one you like better...

I'm letting you know, I loved the Turquoise Shatter on top. The color was much more rich and vibrantly turquoise than my pictures are showing I think, it was truly mesmerizing to look at. I had to take a separate picture of my right thumb because I couldn't hold the bottle... lol. The red is nice too but again it reminds me of Iron Man's suit... haha.

A-Z Untrieds: F: Fly by China Glaze (PIC HEAVY)

Hey kids! I'm awake early on a Saturday that I actually have off for some reason, not into it! Wtf is wrong with me?! I always do that, wake up early when I can sleep all day if I want! Ahhh well... better do a post then!

We're at F for the A-Z! That brings us Fly by China Glaze, a beautiful medium pink with a subtle shimmer. It's almost berry or purple in some lights, but I'm classifying it as pink. I'm showing Fly three ways; alone, with glitter, and then matted. I can't decide which one I like best!!!!

Halloween Inspiration: Disney Villains: Dr. Facilier aka Shadow Man

Hey guys! OH JEEZ I feel like crap, my allergies have been kicking my ass all day! After this I think I'm going to sleep. But first here's another look for the villains! One of my favorites because I love his song! It's Dr. Facilier or as he's more commonly know as in the movie, Shadow Man. I have come to notice a lot of the Disney villains use a combination of black, purple and red in their outfits. Coincidence? I dunno, but I definitely didn't want to do another similar look here plus I already had an idea in mind.

Here be inspiration pics:

If you've seen the movie, you know this part is from Shadow Man's song "Friends On The Other Side". I LOVE this song! Some villain's songs I'm not a fan of because they're too scary (like Scar's song from The Lion King always scared me when I was little). The song is just so catchy and well done and I love sugar skulls! So that's where my inspiration came from. If I were super creative and awesome I'd have actually drawn a sugar skull on my face like the picture but I'm not so this is what I came up with instead.

Products used:
BE Denim used as liner on the right eye. BE 1970's used as liner on the left eye. BE Chic Nude used as highlight on both eyes. MAC Bright Future used on the left eye.

The palette used is Coastal Scents Color Palette. 1L and 2L are used on the left eye and 1R and 2R are used on the right eye.

I tried to use all the prominent colors from the pictures.

Yellow: MAC Bright Future. Purple: 1Lon the outer corner and 2L in the crease. Orange liner: 1970's.

Pink: 1R on inner corner. Green: 2R in outer corner and crease.

For fun!

Before the fun part. Cheeks: BE Fruit Cocktail. Lips: BE Pretty Amazing in Ambition.

Hehe! I like this picture, my eyes are so colorful!

Also for fun (because it's so awesome):
Notice how Dr. Facilier himself is the only one to refer to himself as such! Everyone else just calls him Shadow Man. I love movie trivia!

Well, what do you think of my version? :D

Don't forget to enter! You still have lots o' time so tell all your buddies!
